I am using a DME belly-mounted external antenna and a 1 amp Klixon CB. I should finish the install today and power up.
Dan,
How did you connect to the DME antenna? Did you have to use a seperate adapter from the SMA male (SkyRadar) to BNC (DME belly antenna)? I see where SkyRadar says this works great but there is a difference in connectors and I'm not sure if using regular RG-58, RG-142B or LMR-600 coax is the way to go due to signal loss over distance. I could build my own coax if I had to. I could use SkyRadar's 4' small coax that comes with the remote antenna (LMR-400?) if there were an adapter available for the DME antenna end.
UPDATE:
I have found a site that makes custom coax cables here:

I received an email from Alex at SkyRadar confirming what we need is either (A) an SMA/BNC adapter with his cable or (B) a new a antenna lead with an SMA-male on one end and a BNC-male on the other.
Here's what an adapter would look like (option A):
Here's how a new cable should be configured (option B):
Here's the external antenna Alex recommended (Comant CI-105):
