re: Serial Number starting with MB030:

I got my two new SD cards from Adventure Pilot today (one O/S upgrade to 3.0.11 and a new program SD with all updates on it). Now the SkyRadar talks just fine with the iFly. It doesn't seem to matter if I leave the SkyRadar plugged into the iFly or I start them seperately and then plug in the USB cable. Really slick. So another satisfied SkyRadar customer (after installing O/S 3.0.11). I will try and go fly it tomorrow and see what it looks like when high enough to pick up our local ADS-B FIS radio signal.

Call iFly customer support. They will mail you an SD card with OS update on it free of charge. Have your serial number ready for them so they can make sure and get you the right OS update.

I am using a DME belly-mounted external antenna and a 1 amp Klixon CB. I should finish the install today and power up.

Dan,

How did you connect to the DME antenna? Did you have to use a seperate adapter from the SMA male (SkyRadar) to BNC (DME belly antenna)? I see where SkyRadar says this works great but there is a difference in connectors and I'm not sure if using regular RG-58, RG-142B or LMR-600 coax is the way to go due to signal loss over distance. I could build my own coax if I had to. I could use SkyRadar's 4' small coax that comes with the remote antenna (LMR-400?) if there were an adapter available for the DME antenna end.

UPDATE:

I have found a site that makes custom coax cables here:

http://www.rfwel.com/shop/Custom-Built-LMR-400-Ultra-Low-Loss-Coaxial-Cable.html

I received an email from Alex at SkyRadar confirming what we need is either (A) an SMA/BNC adapter with his cable or (B) a new a antenna lead with an SMA-male on one end and a BNC-male on the other.

Here's what an adapter would look like (option A):

Here's how a new cable should be configured (option B):

Here's the external antenna Alex recommended (Comant CI-105):

Comant CI105
