The iFly outputs gps data that can be used by the Dynon D10A. This is the primary difference between the D10A and the D6A as the D10A can accept external data from a GPS or VOR receiver and the D6A cannot. I have attached some pictures showing the arrangement I have in my airplane.

I have two positions set up where there is cabling for the iFly (power, external antenna and usb for data). One position is mounted to a RAM mount off the top of the panel and the other is on my knee board. I also use it on my knee board when I instruct and/or fly other aircraft although since the last release I use it in portrait mode. In these pictures the GPS is in simulation mode. Please note, I picked a course that agreed with the position of my airplane in my garage so the magnetic heading on the Dynon is reasonable. The Dynon attitude screen also shows a bearing arrow on the compass tape and a CDI indicator when coupled. The Dynon will use the GPS speed for its attitude calculation when airspeed becomes unavailable and that is what happens now and as a result the attitude screen shows a warning message and an inaccurate attitude as the iFly in simulation mode passes a speed to the Dynon which is not actually moving. The colors on the Dynon are much more saturated than they appear in the photograph. All GPS data are purple.

The coupling is accomplished with two (one for each position) usb-serial cables that iFly sells. I used the manual NEMA setting on the iFly to only output the data needed by the Dynon. The only issue I have had is that if the GPS loses power for an instant or longer and does not shutdown as will happen if the power is unplugged for an instant then the coupling ceases until the iFly is completely powered down. The simulation mode was great for testing all of this. When no course is being flown (no purple line on the iFly) the Dynon still accepts and uses the track and groundspeed information.

Keep in mind with the iFly 720, an instant power loss would not have the same affect. The iFly 720 has a super capacitor that provides about 10-15 seconds of power to eliminate the automatic reboot.

I have the 720. The iFly is fine with the momentary loss of power but the coupling drops out and can't be recovered until there is a complete power down of the iFly. I wonder if it is something with the usb to rs232 connector that is the culprit. Perhaps it is very sensitive to a voltage drop or perhaps the capacitor in the iFly does not not supply power to the connector for the few seconds that the power connector is disconnected.

Yep, the iFly scrambles to conserve power to help eliminate the reboot. So, true it would most likely terminate a USB or Serial connection. Sorry about that, guess I missed that on the first email. Something that might help reduce that is to connect the DC adapter to the optional External Battery, and then run to the iFly. Then if the power cord at the DC adapter was unplugged, you'd be fine. However, if the power plug at the unit was unplugged, you'd likely experience the reboot scenario.
