Here's an idea that would add much value to the iFly: Offer your sectionals data base as an JPG package. I have the 48 states (39 files I think) on my Android tablet. All the files are around 10 MB large but they all open very quickly in my tablet''s picture viewer. Seeing my route on a 10 inch screen is a great help when flight planning using my iFly 700. - Jim Williams

The brightness of the 720's screen is adequate for me most of the time (my plane has a bubble canopy and the cockpit is quite bright). I am not as happy with the old style resistve touch screen and would like to see a capacitive screen option in the future. Capacitive screens don't require the user to press hard to initiate an action; a light swipe across the screen usually produces the desired action. Capacitive technology also supports multi touch so that it can detect more than one finger at once. This can be used for advanced gestures such as pinch to zoom.

Hi Alan,

I've actually played with capacitive screens and multi-touch UIs, and we've considered this for the iFly. They demo great, and work well in a static environment. But in a small aircraft, and especially on warm afternoon, I found our screen selection to be the best option. When you are bumping around I thought it quite frustrating for every slight brush of the screen to be registered as input, and I thought pinch/zoom to be more difficult than a single touch to zoom in/out. Of course, opinions will differ on this, and I appreciate you posting your feedback on this.

Thanks!
Walter
