I have my 740b connected to my autopilot in my RV. Often, I'll punch in "direct to" but fly the airplane as required to avoid airspace etc. This often puts me quite a bit off the magenta line. I eventually reset the magenta line to my current position so that I can fly direct from that location if I wish. I've seen that when I do that, the scale of the map changes. It pulls out to show the entire route causing me to perform 3-4 button pushes to get back to the scale I was originally at. Can there be a "no rescale" function be added?

That's so you can make sure your new "direct to" does not take you somewhere you shouldn't be.  You probably want to know that right away instead of later.

Maybe so but I have the unit set up to show the destination identifier on screen plus it shows up on my autopilot. It's not a deal breaker but it would be nice. The GPS that it replaced didn't do that so I got used to it behaving that way. I'm sure after a while I'll just get used to it.

I think he meant so you can see at-a-glance that your new direct-to flight path doesn't go through a mountain or a live-fire MOA, not that your final destination changed.

Yes, exactly. You need to quickly see your new course in it's entirety to make sure it is flyable. It's easy enough to hit the + symbol a couple times to zoom in.
