The 5nm filter is fine - I was just noting that the traffic display is not as bright as the iphone - I get lots of traffic in the DFW area, it just does not jump out at you on the display - you really have to look for it. If you are heads down all the time it would be fine, but that is no way to fly in congested areas. A quick look is all you should really take - the traffic should really stand out.

I routinely get advisories from ATC for traffic > 5mi out (last night I got one for a helicopter at 9 miles in a hazy sky...almost asked, "Are you kidding?"). Having some indication of distant traffic could be helpful in those situations.

I have my PCAS set at 3nm and 1500 foot bubble. Works fine for me. Dan
