Hi Gang -

I was wondering if anyone else is having difficulty seeing the traffic "hits" on the display. Even in the vector mode, the traffic doesn't jump out at you as it does on either the Ipad or Iphone application. Granted, I am flying an RV4 with plenty of sunlight, but given the filtering of the traffic 5nm and +- 3000ft, I wish that the traffic symbol would be a little more obvious.

That being said... this has got to be the best bang for the buck in the aviation world today.

I noted the same issue. It does get better when the targets get closer. But the alerting does not prioritize -- and that makes it hard to recognise the correct threat[s].

Traffic should be very obvious when it's within 5nm. Distant traffic shows as just a tiny dot. This is intentional; as ADSB transceiver utilization increases there will be a lot more traffic in the broadcast, showing a big triangle for every plane would be quite intrusive.

Question for everyone: Other than curiosity, is there a need to see traffic >5nm distant? If so perhaps we could create a new mode that highlighted all traffic everywhere, but we would leave the existing map modes as they are.

Thanks,
Walter

I doubt most people can visually see traffic 5 mi away so why change.

Walter, I believe there is a definite need to see traffic at 5 nm and greater. Consider two planes travelling at 120kn, a head-on meeting is only 75 seconds away. Any faster than that, well, you understand. Maybe different size or different color targets for different ranges? Or perhaps only displayed on converging courses, regardless of altitude?
