I recently purchased an iFly 720. It's been updated with the latest software and charts.

I seem to be having a lot of trouble with the NEMA serial output.

I have tried several USB serial adapters, the best one appears as COM0 and COM7. The adapter I ordered from Adventure Pilot appears as COM7.

Turning on the NEMA output at 4800 and using simulated GPS mode, I cannot get any data to appear on the serial port. I noticed that the active data line is NOT pin 3, but pin 2. This is true on all adapters. The one cord that appears as COM0 seems to have serial traffic on it, but it's at some weird baudrate setting that I can't decipher (data still appears on pin 2).

There is NO serial traffic going TO the IFly. That line is disconnected since I've heard it can confuse the interface somehow.

Current software: iFly700 v7.0.19 (on an iFly720?)

OS: 1.0.1.15

Bootloader: 1.0.0.4

Launcher: 1.0.1.1

Config: 1.0.0.7

I like the iFly, but I want to connect NEMA output to other devices. Is there a way to get this to work?

AHC,

Give us a call at 888-200-5129. We recently found a bug in the NMEA ports. This will be corrected in V7.5 coming in the next few weeks. However, if you contact us and have a SD card reader, we can manually walk you through how to resolve this bug.

Shane,

Would this bug affect the '700 also, specifically the ability to allow SkyRadar in and NMEA output through a hub? I could get this combination to work, just not reliabily. I finally gave up on it. I know there is at least one other '700 user interested in this also.

If not, any progress on the TTL option for the '700 owners?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

Ed has been looking into this. I know we have seen some issue with Hubs tagging the port as Serial In/Out, etc. What model of SkyRadar do you have. The 700 is working with the original SkyRadar. I know the L-Model will not work through the USB cable. On the 720, it is prefered to use Wi-Fi for ADS-B and use the USB to send out the NMEA.

We have got it to work sporadically at best. However, due to that inconsistant connection we are not supporting the USB Hub configuration at this time.

Ed will take care of you on this. I had these exact issues and finally worked through them. I used the Adventure Pilot USB to Serial Adapter. Ended up selecting com 1 and making sure all other com ports were OFF.
