Friday, March 9, 2012, I updated my sortware and all my charts and data.

I tried out the 720 for the first time in the plane yesterday and from the menu button, put in a direct-to destination of a nearby airport to the NW. The sectional chart map showed my plane at Phillipsburg, OH, airport (3I7) but when the route came up, the start point was at Brookville Airport (I62, a smaller airport with no approach) about 3.4 nm southwest. I reentered the direct-to route and got the same result.

I rubberbanded the route to my departure airport and flew the route without further issue. When I went to return to 3I7, the route snapped not from my departure airport, I74, but from a point 3 or 4 miles SW of the airport (where there was NO airport). Upon return to 3I7, I put in another direct-to route to an airport, and the start point jumped again to I62!

I read another post about a snap-to issue but it didn't seem quite the same. Also, what's the most elegant or quickest way to center up an off course airplane for present position direct-to a previously entered destination? Rubberbanding?

I like the new 720, nice and bright, otherwise. The WIFI updates really are great once I figured out NOT to put the 720 on top of my closed up laptop!

Best regards,

This should be fixed with the latest software. If you are not moving the iFly will try and guess a departure point - if you are within 2 NM of an airport it will presume this is your location, otherwise it will presume your current lat/lon as starting point. If you are in flight it doesn't make this assumption (which is the bug ollie is referring to)

No. I'm talking about putting in a flight plan or direct to from my home base, 97FL while on the ground. There is another airport located about 2 mi.away ,2FD1, and the route always goes from that airport even though the airplane on sectenial shows over my airport.. My old 700 is doing the same thing although it didn't used to.

Yes, problem is NOT fixed with latest software. I am on the ground at one airport and 720 knows it. Route snaps to a different airport. 700 that was traded in didn't do that. Please fix!

Ollie! Thanks for your post. We seem to have the same issue. It must be a software bug from a recent update.

Wade
