Am I the only one that has trouble with updates not working?

I thought it was a matter of ‘size’ but that doesn’t seem to pan out!

I am using the included thumb drive so I know I am not exceeding the 2GB limit.

My latest headache is that I am trying to update 6, Terminal Area Charts plus WX & TFRs…

This results in a 58 MB zip which is promptly rejected by the iFly 700!

I tried it with only 4 of the 6 TACs and eliminated the WX ~ fail (41 MB)

3 Files + WX & TFRs ~ fail (25 MB)

Then down to no WX/TFRs & 3 TACs ~ Success! (24 MB)

Then another without WX/TFRs and 4 TACs ~ Success! (36 MB)

It leaves me just doing trial & error trying to find just the Right Package (the Goldielocks Update…

In my attachment, note that only iFlyUpdatePackage(4) & (5) worked:

Software: 6.0.8
OS: 3.0.11
BootLoader: 3.0.1
Launcher: 1.0.2

Jim,

Have you tried inserting the USB into the iFly first with the power off. Then power on your iFly, you should see a pop-up message indicating an update package has been found. Select yes and it will take care of the rest. Please note this works on the 700, not the 720. Some USB drives take longer to be discovered, by powering up the iFly 700 with the USB inserted, it takes priority. Try this and please report back. We are sorry you are experiencing this issue, also feel free to contact our support by phone.

That does seem to help...

Still have one that simply will not load even after re-downloading it 3 times.

I think I located the problem...

It seems that it was the USB Device that was included!

I had a bunch of updates to do, so I was using 2 or 3 USB Devices. I noticed that I never had a failure to update with my other 2...

It may be a USB socket issue on your '700. I have a number of thumb drives and two of them work without fail on my '700, while others will work only if I insert them in my '700 and hold at them a slight angle. All of them connect and work just fine with my PC and other USB devices. I just stick with the ones that connect properly with my '700!

That said, I would like to cast my vote for the ability to update my '700 SD cards directly from my PC as described in some earlier threads today! I always carry a back-up SD card and being able to update directly from my PC would make it much easier to keep both current.
