Is the 740b faster than the 740?

Or have noticeably better hardware? Or have any other feature or attribute or capability--or anything--that makes it better than the 740?

Hopefully an AP person will come along with a definitive answer, but as I recall the only difference was in the screen.  I believe the screen on the original 740 was discontinued, and the 740b uses a different screen with a slightly lower nit rating (like original was 1200 and current is 1100 nits, or something like that).  The intent was to keep them as close to identical, spec-wise, as AP could manage.

this is correct. 740b has a *slightly* smaller nit count, but it's negligible.

Thanks, Cobra. I'm asking because the 740b is on sale right now, and the only thing I wish for my 740 is that it would respond a bit faster when I tap on the screen. I was thinking about the CPU and clock speed--but maybe the new screen makes a difference. Hoping for enlightenment.

Thanks, Brolin! So I guess there's no sense in buying a "b" model if it's no faster. No matter. The 740 is fast enough.
