i have been following the sky radar on the fourm, i have a i fly i use for the vrf and ifr charts, and use the garnin 496 for the weather and gps, is the sky radar a good reilable source for weather or does it still have alot of bugs to work out, i fly 200 plus hours a year and most flights are 4 hour legs. i dont want to use the sky radar if its not reilble or still have alot of bugs to work out.
Thanks Tim

Some folks with older iFly units have had to install a (free) OS upgrade to get the SkyRadar to work, but I haven't heard of anyone who's had trouble after that.

When an ADSB signal is present, the setup appears to work reliably. (At least, it's worked reliably for me (based on a handful of flights), and I haven't seen anyone else post here about problems.)

Had my unit seemingly working perfectly only to fly yesterday and could not get winds aloft. Traffic was also not reporting. I flew through NY and Philly Class B airspace and info was updated consistently but winds aloft reported "no data"

I have all the latest OS updates....

New question on troubleshooting the Skyradar. Previously, you said that we needed to download a weather update because there is some code in that package needed by for the Skyradar. I finally had the opportunity to fly being absolutely sure that there was precipitation within 10 miles but my IFly did not show any. Although I had downloaded the weather a few weeks ago, I did not have a recent weather. Does this mean that anytime we use the Skyradar we need to have the latest weather?

The status indicated live weather but no precipitation was represented on the screen, along with no winds aloft or METARS. I downloaded the correct software from the SD card that you sent me and the IFly apparently recognizes the Skyradar. So far, I have not been able to pick up any precipitation and the feedback to the user is so limited that it is hard to do anything to troubleshoot. Help!

Alberto, it is a one time thing. Once you download weather the SD card will have the files it needs to interface with the Skyradar. But, if we sent you a new SD card it won't have the weather files...you will need to download weather to that card too.

Thanks,
Walter
