Received my Skyradar this afternoon. Came home to hook it up, and I got the same USB driver error message.
I guess I will call support tomorrow and get an update to the OS card.

Count me in as a "fail" too on initial start-up with SkyRadar. I also got the same message box that Cobra did during the iFly boot up (stays on screen for maybe 3 or 4 seconds):

Here is my unit information:

GPS version 2010.3.22

Boot Loader 3.0.0

Launcher 1.0.1

OS 3.0.0

iFly 700a s/n MB030062

Do I need a new SD card? Can we just update the SD card we have by downloading a file and overwrighting the original one on the SD card?

UPDATE (10/28/2011):

New SD card was shipped to me and I updated my OS from 3.0.0 to 3.0.11 and now the devices like each other. Thanks AP!

Guys,

Different serial numbers can have a different "Latest OS Version". We have requested from Radenna any changes that may have been made to the SkyRadar driver or chipset. We are also testing additional regression units to see if it is a batch of iFly that is missing the driver or tied to an OS version. We know units beginning MB9C need an OS update, MB03 is also suspected. We have also sent out several OS updates to owners and we should know if this fixes the issue and different units. We should know more tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

Unfortunately, the OS update did not fix my problem. But it has perhaps gotten me closer to a solution...

After my OS update, when I first plug in the SkyRadar after the iFly software is running, if I check Menu>About>Connected Devices, there is no immediate change. However, after a few seconds, when I again check Connected Devices, it will say something like "Discovered Serial Ports: '0', '1'", and below that it will say, "Controller Status: / --------------- / Settings: None / Active Ports: 0-9600: 1-9600". (It will actually repeat the "Settings / Active Ports" group of data for each discovered serial port.

If I check under Mode, the iFly always reports "Weather (Pre-Flight)". (I.e., it never reports that it's connected to an ADSB device.)

Over time, if I periodically check "Menu>About>Connected Devices", I will see the number of "Discovered Serial Ports" grow. For instance, right now the iFly has been on for ~30 min, and it has now discovered 14 serial ports. There are also 14 groupings of "Settings: None / Active Ports: 0-9600: 1-9600: 2-9600: .... 14-9600".

So, whereas with the previous OS the unit would recognize something was plugged into the USB port but couldn't find a driver for it, now with the current OS it appears that it is continually finding something plugged into the USB port but it is not establishing a good connection to and receiving data from the SkyRadar.

Shane or Ed, what's my next step?
