Just to make sure I am following this correctly, the iFly IS NOT LEGAL to use to fly a GPS approach.
Granted you may use it for 'reference' or anythign you want during VFR but for actual IFR flight, you must use a certified unit.

Jim, yes, you are correct--the iFly is NOT CERTIFIED to fly IFR. Unfortunately, you did not quote the portion of my post that I included specifically to address that:

"While flying IFR ast weekend, I requested and got the RNAV (GPS) RWY 30 approach into T41, cleared direct to PORRI and then to fly the procedure as published. After setting up my 430W with the approach, I wanted to rubber-band my flight path on the approach plate on the iFly to match."

I fly IFR behind a 430W, among other IFR-certified instruments in my panel.

But I use all of the tools available to me to maintain SA and provide cross-checks.
