I have read the threads suggetsing to let it set flat overnight. I am going to try this with my iFly 700. Today when attempting to close out of an air space alert, it would select another button beside what I was selecting. It did the same thing in the flight plan set up.

I have started mine up in the horizontal mode and will let it on overnight to see if it will then accept a new calibration rather than just going on for ever. I will advise as to what I find.

To date my iFly has been great with no real problems except for the lakes not showing up or only partial lakes showing up in vector mode. Navigation has been flawless to date and I still think this is one of the finest units on the market for the money.

It is now 1/14/2016. Sorry I have not replied with the fix results sooner for those that may have wondered. IT WORKED. I do not know why or how, but it worked.

I too had a 700; it was my first EFB and it was great for the year or so I used it. Then I sold it on eBay and upgraded to the new 720 for the wifi capability, and the unit itself was a really nice upgrade from the 700. After 2 years with it, the 740 came out and I didn't believe it could match all the hype about sunlight readability, etc... so I kept using my 720. And then one day iFly made one of those "offers you can't refuse", and I ordered a 740. Man oh man, what a difference! The 700 is a nice unit, the 720 is a nice upgrade, but the 740... the 740 is lightyears ahead of any Apple or Android tablet for visibility. No longer is there times when I have to shade the display to read it. And of course it's running the same software you're running. However, there's coming a day when the new features are going to overload the 700's memory/processor capability and the painful choice will have to be made to either freeze 700 upgrades, or discontinue support altogether (That's my personal opinion only; I have no affiliation with iFly other than as a satisfied customer and beta tester). Even though you're satisified with your 700 and the overnight trick will probably solve the problem (it did with my 720), you might want to shoot Shane an email or phone call and see what kind of deal he'll give you on a refurbished 720. These things are like crack - once it's in your veins, you'll consider selling a kid to get your next one.

Hello Jeff, I have been considering the upgrade along with attempting to formulate a plan as to how I want to incorporate the 740 in with the new ADS-B requirements. My transponder is not that old and still is dead on at the last instrument check so I am looking at the options to keep it. I really want to stay with I fly is it is just a great unit that has delivered everything promised including non-obsolescence to this point. At that time I will keep the 700 for back up.

I feel your compliance pain. My plan is to eventually install the cheapest certified 1090 OUT I can find, and use an off-the-shelf or homemade receiver for IN. I'm going with 1090 because it's required for international flights, and I may go to Alaska (via Canada) and the Caribbean some day. iFly, both 740 and Android, has happily connected to every ADS-B receiver I've tried.

Unfortunately, it is possible for the touchscreens to degrade over time and eventually become uncalibratable. Yours may have reached that point. If so, the only options are to retire the unit or send it back to AP for a fairly-pricey repair.

Your best bet is to call their support line and speak with someone at AP directly. They've got the list of tricks to try to see if the screen can be cajoled back into behaving properly. If not, they can offer you pricing on repair or upgrade options for your consideration.

FWIW, I have _the first_ 720 unit that was shipped to a customer. My screen ended up becoming uncalibratable sometime around a year or so ago; I opted to have the screen replaced, and it's been doing fine since then. (It is now my "backup iFly", as I find myself using my Android tablet most often, unless the sun is just behind my left shoulder and I can't see the screen.)
