I started an update download today.

437 MB with NO states selected!

Am I the only one with limited monthly quota from my Internet provider?

To me 437 MBs is insane for updating an already installed application.

I have previously contacted support regarding this. Obviously to no avail.

Perhaps if other users agree with me that this is excessive, they will change their update packaging and procedures so that only changes need to be downloaded.

If you're talking about the sectionals, there's no way anyone on this side of the FAA to know what the changes are, only that the sectional did change. If you have a limit, the best thing you could do is reduce the number of sections to download.

I just updated my Android version for 9 states. It was 602 MB and included all the data plus all charts, VFR and IFR and plates. It took about 10 minutes. You can't download changes to charts and plates, you have to download the entire charts and plates.

IPad took about 8 minutes for the same update. This is typical and not a problem.

Hi Finn - You might want to look around to find a free 'hot spot'. I've used my town's library, our senior center, and even our local Burger King on occasions. - Jim Williams

No. I specifically unselected ALL states. Selecting Florida only increases it by 24MB to 461MB.

24 MB for Florida is perfectly acceptable.

It's the "basic" 437MB that's a complete mystery to me. And I strongly suspect that much of that is not needed and is simply a lazy way to provide updates without differentiating between what's changed and what's not.
