I have finally been able to see the tiny "black dot" descent indicator.

It is mostly useless. I'll still use the Vertical Speed to Target instrument. Easy to see. Easy to use.

Since there won't ever be a comprehensive IFL GPS Manual, this forum is the only way we'll discover features.

I figured this out while playing with the software. I would recommend changing it to an elongated diamond (longer in the axis aligned with the course line).

Sodbuster is right, it needs to be changed and I like his description.

While not a display option, I would like to see TOC/TOD show in the flight planning as well.  It would help in the mental preparation and planning of any flight and useful especially for new pilots during training.  $0.02.

I found a workaround, very manual, but doable.  After getting my flight planning worked out then go to the magenta line and find the black dot - data point and get a Lat/Long, rename this TOD and it's highlighted on the screen, in the flight plan, and shows up as a planning point during approach.  Really useful on X-country legs to start planning descent.

Did I say it was very manual?

The point on the line will change if you change the profile settings of your plane. Adjust the rate of climb and/or decent and the little black dot will move accordingly.
