Yes it's a lot more accessible to a lot more folks that way, especially on mobile devices. beta forum isn't going away, though.

Oh well, I guess this is progress...

No, it's not, but the decision has been made.

I fear that this is going to have a bigger negative impact on AP than they think.  It's one thing to say the beta forums will stay up, but it's another to get people to participate in them.  Months ago, AP said they were going to release betas at a cadence of once per week.  Since then, I think there have been maybe 3 releases.  There's usually a flurry of beta test responses shortly after a release, and then folks tend to hold off on further comment until the next release.  But if nothing happens on the forum for weeks at a time, then even the beta testers are going to lose interest and stop checking in, and AP will lose that valuable resource.

So I think this is a bad decision for many reasons, but...the decision has been made.  We'll see what happens.  {shrug}

What Cobra said reflects what we think as well.

I suppose I should be surprised at iFly's move to FB, especially since after the last go around about moving to FB raised a lot of concern - but I'm not.

I agree - I play with the EFB a bit, post a few questions and get no answers...

But, I guess I am a guilty as everyone else. I have not and will not move to facebook.

I dont care if it is FB or this forum or any other tool. I wish AP would pick one or the other and stick with it.

I would like to see more active participation in the Beta group. I dont mind testing, kind of enjoy it as it is a break from the day job, but I would like more acknowledgement / visibility into the Beta program. I have been involved in the XPlane 12 Alpha/Beta for quite some time and the interaction with the development team is structured. Similar experience with other dev groups as well, Apple, Google, MSFT,…. There are times I am not sure what to test / what is not been developed because of the lack of visibility.

We use slack at work for our Alpha / Beta / Regression volunteer testers. We do have a separate internal QA/Release testing program. A release comes with very specific guidance on what changed, what should be tested (doesnt prevent other tests), and when we should report back. We post every Friday on the status of the next release. Yes, at times it slips, but our testing group is kept in the loop. Just my .02

Bottom line---subscribers have made clear that the forum is important to them and IFLY.0

F B is not now and never will serve as a replacement for a forum .
