I have noticed that when flying with wingmen in a flight, that turning on the Ghost Filter eliminates them from the screen and so eliminates the constant warnings.

I was wondering if the filter being on would not show other traffic nearby to our flight?

Is the ghost filter based only on proximity or does the supposed ghost also have to be traveling in the same direction (and maybe speed) to be considered a ghost?  One is a possible collision waiting to happen, and the other is a true ghost or is someone flying in formation with you.  In either of those last 2 cases, I wouldn't want a warning.

I would hope that the ghost logic says it has to be close (vertically & horizontally), going the same direction (give or take a tiny bit), and going the same speed (give or take a tiny bit).

A ghost must be traveling a similar bearing, speed, altitude, and be in close proximity - for a period of time.  If you take off with a wingman, he will look like a ghost.  If you meet in the air and join up, it will take a long time before the wingman is considered a ghost.

BTW, another option for wingman is to tap the aircraft and select the "Track the Traffic" option.  This will highlight the icon a little differently, remove that guy from the alerting system, and he won't ever be considered a "ghost".
