Does anyone know if It is possible to tether via bluetooth the 520 since it doesn't have a wi-fi?

That could be helpful at airports and/or in flight to update the weather (where possible) without having an ADS-B and also make it easier to update the software...

Thanks.

Tex,

The iFly 520 does not currently support Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. You can use our iFly Connect on any internet connected PC. I've seen many FBO with an iFly Connect icon on the desktop. You'd just need to make sure you have the SD Card adapter or a USB based SD card reader.

iFly connect is extremely fast when using an internet connected PC. You could have Weather, TFRs, etc updated and be ready to fly again in just a few minutes. Also, the iFly 720 supports Wi-Fi for this type of benefit you are asking for. I hope this helps.

I do not have space in my cockpit for the 720...the 520 is my only option. For now I'm using my Samsung S5 but eventually I want to have a dedicated unit. So I can just pull the SD card from the unit and update it from a PC equipped with an SD card interface?

Thanks.

Yes. Just put the SD card in a reader. Then download iFly Connect on the PC from the Update tab on iflygps.com. This will load the updater and update your SD card, no login required. It's also a semi-automated process. I think you'll like it allot.

Can I do flight analysis downloading data from the SD card to the PC? Does the 520 have the option to record?
