Switching out for the iFly720 from Lowrance

Hi all, just ordered the 720. I have a Just Aircraft Highlander with a panel dock for the Lowrance 2000c. Really loved that GPS but they no longer support the aviation community with updates. After flying with it for more than a year after that have now decided it is time to upgrade. I have been watching the iFly grow and grow. Very impressed with the updates/upgrades. So went for it. The Lowrance has a 12v direct hookup and an antenna installed on the plane. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can just replace the dock with a dock for the ifly and use the existing power and antenna?

power should be the same...12v is still 12 v... I assume you will also buy the connector wire with plug and open ends from Ifly. Then you should be able to simply connect the wires. If you Lowrance had the same plug as the Ifly, you should be able to just plug it in.

can't help with the antennae question

Thanks for the reply. Hope to have the unit soon and will see if the 12v plug from the Lowrance fits the iFly. Will check the antenna as well.

I had an Airmap 1000 mounted on the yoke with wiring plummed to the cigar lighter. The Airmap had a propritary power plug, where the iFly has a plug that can be found at Radio Shack. So you will need to change out the plug to the GPS. Might as well order an extra cigar lighter plug or power pigtail from AP rather then trying to find the right plug, I had to go to 3 Radio Shacks before I found the right one. Other then that, I think the iFly is the best all around VFR GPS on the market.

I have an open cockpit Ercoupe. The built-in antennae works fine but I was not getting a WAAS lock. I bought the $25 external antennae and placed on the panel visor shelf and now I have a WAAS lock all the time.
