I ordered last year (12/09). I got an e-mail today saying it shipped yesterday and expect 2-4 days for delivery. I was hoping for Friday or Saturday. I was real happy to see it on the porch when I got home from work. I was late, so will explore it tonight and fly with it tomorrow evening.

@Mark: I've determined there is a bug in the chart rotation causing the Out Of Memory error. (not related to the SD card). I'll get this fixed, and you will be able to download a new version. Posted this issue on another thread.

@Leroy: You will receive your GPS 3-5 business days after ordering.

Thanks,
Walter

Mark, sorry I missed your other question: You should see an "Updates" menu option on your login. Follow the directions on that page.

I got it after my number was put in by Adventure Pilot. Nothing except TFRs to download. Due to the troubles with my previous supplier, I wanted to see it work asap. It worked great.

I fly a C152. I flew with my iFly last night. The weather was good with smooth air. It works just as it supposed to work. I am building a list of things that are giving me a problem or are worth a comment. Here are some:

  1. Display still a bit too bright at lowest setting at night. Will try today, very bright, to see if highest setting works in these conditions.
  2. Remote has no access to the cancel in the menus.
  3. The mode and map buttons do not seem to work on my remote. They do mess up my neighbor's TV ( while in his living room) pretty good.
  4. The scan map mode is great as well as the zoom!
  5. I need to remember to write the trip time down before I shut off the master. This would be nice to auto save to the SD, maybe it is, but I checked SD, found logs, but could not decipher a flight time. As I said before shipping, a battery would make it too heavy.
  6. Flight planning adds an hour to my planned 96 Knot slow speed. I have not checked other figures yet.

Going flying.

Hi Mark, I appreciate the feedback. Here is my response:

1) Let me know how the daylight works out for you. There isn't anything I can do either way about this from a software perspective, but this feedback is still helpful for other buyers. The remote "Power" button, by the way, will turn off the display but the unit will continue running. So you have the option of turning off the screen, and just periodically turning it on to spot-check your progress.

2) The remote can be used to control the map and navigate the menus, but many of the sub-forms that pop up (charts, airport info, etc), are not yet supported by the remote control. This is on my to-do list and will be incorporated in a future software release.

3) Someone else reported an issue with the "Mode" button, that is on my list. The "Map" button simulates pressing the "Switch Maps" button on the screen, which only has an affect if multiple sectionals are in scope on the current screen. Try zooming out or panning until the "Switch Maps" button shows up, then try the 'Map" button.

4) Cool

5) The flights are logged in the SD Card. The format is NMEA, all the times are in zulu - taken straight from the GPS feed. An easy method of extracting this data for purposes of documenting your flight would be part of the "Log Book" feature, which is on the wishlist. (I've added your vote for that feature)

Thanks!
Walter
