Love the annotated distance markers - they work great when flying in a northerly direction. Trouble is when you head south, the plane icon skews to the top of the screen and you can't see the annotation without scrolling.

Maybe have it on the top and bottom of the circles or (although I'm sure more complicated) have it in front of the plane along your flight of path.

Maybe it's just me being a bit of a newbie but on a few occasions when ATC asks my location, I look over at my iFly hoping to quickly reference only to be followed by an "uh......." because I'm not certain the range of the circles based on the screen zoom level.

Of course this never happens flying north :-)

I'll second this request.

I agree too; it's awkward to use.

Dale,

I've actually mentioned possibly putting the annotation at the 12 o'clock and 4 o'clock or reversed at 6 o'clock and 2 o'clock. This might resolve it in North-Up and Track-Up as well as Landscape and Portrait.

Another option might be to have an instrument box that shoes the Ring Distance, though I'm not sold on that one.

Lastly, we have talked about the possibility of an option to keep the plane in the center of the screen, basically Skew or Center Icon. This would climate the annotated issue and give a central reference point, you'd always know where to look for your icon. It's never been asked for on the forums, but I thought it might be well received.

I'll make sure we have some further dialog on this internally with Walter and Brian for the future. Thanks for the great feedback.

Shane - Why not just use different colors for the different circles? If people don't want to memorize the different colors and the distance that they stand for, maybe an instrument box could be a color key box. - Jim Williams
