I got it installed and find a few issues....not sure if its simple stuff I'm missing or really a problem.
I have sounds and alerts turned off but still get flashing alerts and beeps, bumps and boops from the system. I normally can't hear the thing in the plane but there are times when the noises can be heard and create issues with me looking for problems in the plane. Thats why I have them turned off. Off should mean off not mostly off or pretty much off, but off in all cases. I have the terrain alarms, alerts and all that turned off or however it is put on the screen....disregarded? I'm still getting the flashing screen, beeping and booping and all the things I wanted to have off are on. Sometimes its necessary to fly within range of the things the unit regards as dangerous or hazardous. I'm guessing that is why there is a button for turning them off. Why aren't they off? Can I disable the terrain/tower/obstruction system entirely?

Last thing has been pretty much ongoing and relates to the time. My clock is one hour behind. It seems to be that way everytime I update anything. I'm on indiana east time with the daylight time enabled. I set the clock to the proper time than at some point I update charts or software or whatever and surprise surprise, the clock is back to one hour behind.
The clock on the unit is handy, its well placed and easy to see, its much clearer than the one in the plane so I'd like to use it. Problem is how to depend on it when I don't know if its right or if its behind. Isn't it possible to make it self checking like cell phones and have it update to local time?

Thats it for now. Still happy with the unit and really happy with the continuous update program. My bitches and whines shouldn't be taken as unhappy grumbling but as typical non computer gumby lack of knowledge.

Thanks guys

Frank

Frank: Just another pilot chiming in here. One sure fire method to kill the audio on the alerts is to turn off the sound from the System menu (before you launch the navigator). Then in Navigation you can use the MENU - SETUP - COLLISION ALERTS to DISABLE the red-yellow visual screen flashing alerts. Sorry I can't help you with the 1-hour time difference - I had that issue, too, at one time in the past, but since I downloaded and installed the latest OS for my 720 it now works perfectly for EST/EDST. You might call Customer Support to make sure you have installed the latest OS for your model. ===Ralph

Frank,
As I assume you are very well aware, indiana's 2 time zones mess uo everyone! I wouldn't be surprised if that is part pf iFly's problem too.

If you want to disable the actual Collision "Alerts" (shown in the box that pops-up), you can select "Menu -> Setup -> Alerts and Warnings -> Collision Alerts -> Disabled". In v7.0.16 released Monday, however, there is only one message that still remains for "INSIDE Airport Zone" and "Leaving Airport Zone". This is a bug, to be fixed in our next release.

If you want to disable the Red/Yellow highlights shown on the map view, you can select "Menu -> Setup -> Alerts and Warnings -> Terrain Highlights -> Disabled".

This still leaves "Airspace Alerts", which can be disabled with "Menu -> Setup -> Alerts and Warnings -> Airspace Alerts -> Alert Modes -> {Set them all to "No Alert"}".

This should mostly fix the issue for you. Please let me know if this works out for you.

Would you still like to see "Airspace Alerts" shown in the box, but just eliminate the "Squawk" sound? Currently, we don't support this option, but it could become a requirement for a future version, if requested by multiple users.

What I really want to do is disable all alerts and sounds. If you're intentionally flying in proximity to any of the hazards the unit is warning of it will flash the screen, the alert button or beep and make noise. After repeated reboots and fiddling I finally managed to get my sound turned off only to find the indicator for it in the upper left hand corner of the screen where the 2 most used instruments are ..... groundspeed and altitude.( I don't really use the altitude that much since its based on theoretical GPS rather than barometric.) Now its tough to see the groundspeed readout. I had shut off all sounds a number of times and still had the beeps but never got the indicator symbol before.

As for stopping the alerts I had gone to the menus and disabled what I could but that still left flashing buttons and beeps. There are times you don't need any distractions and for some reason the sounds this thing makes can be heard over the engine and through my headsets....not always but often enough that its a distraction.

It seems I finally managed to update the clock situation as well. I had to recalibrate about 4 times in order to get the timezone menu to work. I tried selecting all manner of different time zones and rebooting but never got the time to change at all. Then on the last try I went back to indiana East GMT -5 and viola the time updated without rebooting. Not sure whats going on here with all this and I'll probably try calling in and talking to someone or bringing it up to the booth at Oshkosh if I can make it. Things are weird sometimes and then fall into place with no rhyme or reason.
