I relocated my 740B recently using the suction cup windshield mount to avoid effecting my vertical card compass. On the next flight, the device was flickering into shutdown mode. Very annoying... When I landed, I realized that the 740B was in contact with the glare shield. A slight adjustment cleared the problem. My theory is the device doesn't like vibration coming through the case. Lesson learned....

I would like to delete this post. It turns out after panel work, the power wire to the cigarette lighter was not properly connected. It was the cause, not vibration from touching the glare shield

Thanks for the follow-up.  That makes a lot more sense.  There are lots of 740s in use in lots of vibrate-y airplanes out there!

I don't know of any way to delete a post. But you can edit it and replace the entire text with something like "This post has been removed by the author." Then submit it. (I haven't actually tried it, but am pretty sure it will work.)

I see little point in deleting the post.  The fact remains that an owner had an issue, and resolved it.  The fact that the eventual cause and remedy is no fault of iFly may help someone else in the future to think outside the box and resolve an issue in a way they hadn't yet considered.
