Well, here I go again.  I removed the SD card from my iFly720, and proceeded to do the wokraround update using my desktop, but this time it would not work.  Got an error message:

As a few others have said, make sure the slider switch is set to the unlock position on your card then you'll be all set!

Mitchell,

I'm a little confused by the background of your photograph.  It looks like maybe you tried to re-install the iFly Connect tool, which is not required.  The first time you use the tool, you need to download it from the iFly website and install it, but after that you should just launch the installed app directly from your computer. I go to the search box in the lower-left corner near the Start menu icon, type in "iFly", and choose "iFly Connect" when it pops up in my list of apps.

I wonder if you tried to install the tool again while it was already installed, and something got confused?  If that's the case, then maybe an uninstall / reinstall cycle would clear that up?

If that's not the problem, then I assume you tried removing and reseating the SD card?  Moving the slider on the SD card? Moving it back? etc?

If you try all that and get the same result, try this and report what happens:

1) Insert the iFly SD card into your computer.
2) Open a File Explorer window and open the top level folder listing on that SD Card (drive D: or E: or F: or whatever it shows up as on your computer)
3) Inside that File Explorer folder listing window, right-click on some blank area of the window, click "New >", and pick "New Folder".

If the card is not write-protected, you should see a new folder appear with the name "New Folder".  Otherwise, you'll get an error message.

Yes, Cobra, I believe that's what I had tried to do, reinstall the app again.

I was able to get the update to download by removing the SD card after I got the error message, then reinstall the SD card.  This method worked.

I've had iFly Connect tell me the SD card is locked a number of times.  I've just removed the card, slid the lock/unlock button up and down a few times, returning it to the unlock position, put it back in the card reader and iFly Connect is now able to update the card.

Yes, what worked, I believe, was not the ritualistic sliding of the lock/unlock button, but the removal/reinsertion of the SD card.  I have no explanation for this behavior, just a description.

I get the same "cannot connect to the IFly server". It shows wifi on and has connected in the past. What is the problem?

Lots of reasons, like we mentioned in this thread... clientside server issues, improper encryption, 5 gHz vs 2.4 gHz, security settings
