Thanks everyone for your thoughts on this thread. I am very confident that screen brightness has not been modified by any of our software releases. In fact, this is a low level function that would require a flash of the operating system to change. By chance have any of you experiencing this issue flashed your OS?

The display itself is a high quality Samsung LCD screen, and from my research and personal experience these screens do not degrade; but it's not impossible. If you think you're having a hardware issue contact our support desk; we will need to see the unit to give a definitive analysis of the problem.

To make this conversation more open to other owners for feedback I'm moving it to the Owners Q&A forum.

Thanks!
Walter

Yesterday was my first time to use the unit since upgranding to 6.0 and it was difficult to read in the light and the glare was terrible.

I use my unit in my Cessna 150 with a yoke mount. I have the latest non-beta version of the software. The only time I have difficulty seeing the screen is when light reflects off my shirt onto the screen. I use a black shirt to avoid that; I don't think anything else is likely to help.

I flew KFFZ-KKNB and back last weekend. The flight north was sunny with the sun behind me, and no problem seeing the screen. The flight south was initially bright overcast, then became sunny with the sun in front of me; both circumstances that resulted in light reflecting off my shirt. I used my black shirt and had no problem seeing the screen.

Does night mode display an approach chart with a black background?
