My home airport is surrounded by moutains and flying any distance requires climbing above this terrain. To avoid the time and fuel that climbing higher than necessary means that finding the lowest terrain that will allow safe passage over these mountains. When I create a flight plan and load it, I can see the height of the terrain that I will be flying over in the Vertical Horizon view. However, I don't know what the course width the software is using to show the terrain height? Is it possible to set the course line width? If I could set the course width to 1/4 mile or less, could I move the course line around to find the lowest terrain I would be flying over and have it displayed on the Vertical Horizon view?

This is a good idea, I think the vertical profile only show the HIGHEST elevation on your course line even if it is Miles away
they could "shade" it and show the elevation under the plane on the course that you choose in your flight plan, in full color, this would make it more real, but I think this would involve a pairing of the vertical and horizontal charts I thing it would be better to have a virtual rendering a bit like "Highway in the sky" and this is a whole different ball of wax.

Ciao
