I was poking around in the options/setup of my 740 and found what appears to be an automatic day-night screen setting based on user selected times. (Something I've been hoping for since I got a 700). I was able to make the screen dim at the time I set but so far have been unable to get the screen to display in "Night Mode", only a low level of the Day mode. What am I missing?

That is a firmware or system backlight setting. Basically, its it for everything outside iFly GPS or iFly Streets.

We actual do some overriding of that inside our navigations software. Currently, this Day Night Mode time setting will not work for your intended use. We are working on an Auto Day/Night Mode. It's making its way up the Wish-List.

Sorry for any confusion or frustrations. Hang in there, we'll get it added.

Speaking of day/night, we recently took the 720 on a long road trip, and noticed that A) auto day/night switch works, and that B) the whites in night mode are too bright, especially the speed limit indicator in the lower left corner. WAY too bright in night hoghway driving.
