Dave - My efis looks for input on Pin3. it assumes it's the receiver so the harness uses pin 3 and essentially includes a 'null modem' in the way its wired. So pin 3 to Pin 3 for me makes perfect sense. Look at the picture of my old cable I had no pin 2 on the old Gps cable and the efis worked.

Alasdair

Yea... I was just going to edit my post a bit. I just read thru the D-10a wiring, and there's a lot more to it than my 'simple' setup.

But, I'm sure we're both gonna get fixed up (figured out) eventually. These guys are Great!

Alasdair,

I mis-understood; I thought you were using the cable in your picture. We provide a fully functional bi-directional USB to serial cable, so it can serve more purposes in the future. You may be experiencing the same problem our other customer had. If you can, disable any sort of serial output your EFIS may be sending. If this doesn't help, try clipping pin 2 from the cable we provided.

By the way, I consider this a bug - the iFly should be a little smarter about determining a serial port is usable for NMEA output. I'll try to get it fixed in the next release.

Thanks,
Walter

Walter - Sorry for the confusion. No was just to make the point that all I wanted/needed was one way from the GPS.

Anyway, I clipped pin 2 off of the ifly supplied USB/Serial cable and it instantly worked. Everything is where is should be HSI on the EFIS, Maps on the GPS. Love it. I used the simulator to fly around a waypoint or two and the EFIS correctly received the next bearing which means the autopilot (built into the Dynon EFIS) should be working too. Looking forward to playing with it in the air.

Thanks again for an awesome product! (I'll revise that to 'perfect' product once the terrain feature is released)!

- Alasdair
