I had a similar issue with my samsung. I installed "GPS Status" app. Open ifly and then gps status and run it with gps enabled. Once it tracked I could swap back to ifly without killing the gps status app and it started tracking. I do however have to be setting still to get the initial track location. If I am already moving it will stop updating gps position after about 5 seconds though it will continue to give my speed and direction. How weird.

Some tablets have settings that use the wifi to establish the general location to track faster which can be disabled, without it some tablets will take a very long time to get the first fix

I am having exactly the same problem. GPS in my ZenPad works only after factory reset and untill the first power off and restart.

I contacted ASUS but did not get any useful answer.

How did you solve your problem? Did you replace your tablet?

Not the answer you are looking for, but you can get a good external GPS puck on eBay or Amazon for less than $20. Or, you could get a Stratux ADS-B device that has GPS. I see there is one on eBay for $215.

Sergey, my ZenPad Z580C GPS function now works. I went back and forth with their tech support, finally said I had enough and got an RMA # to send it back. Shortly after that I turned it on again and now have GPS locks, with no problem since then in late December. I did not change any of the settings, but I guess its possible that an update came out that was downloaded; I don't know. iFly now works well.

Brian:

I am having a similar issue with my LG G Pad 8.3" tablet.

Only Google maps works OK and the GPS Test application says I have 21 satellites with 12 strong ones. I am in my house..

The tablet was locked earlier today and the as I got toward the end of the trip I lost GPS LOCK. Then it came back and then lost lock again. Now at home it fails to get lock with IFLYGPS only. All other GPS apps work fine.

Summary: I have GPS working OK on two GPS test apps and on Google maps and on my phone just next to the tablet., but no luck on the tablet.

I have rebooted the tablet and cleard the cache to no avail. I have uninstalled IFLY and reinstalled and no luck. The tablet has worked in the past.

This has to be an IFLY issue since all the other GPS aps work OK. I had just installed the latest upgrade from Play Store, but I don't believe that is the issue since it failed before I installed the update.

Any Ideas???

John
