On a recent trip to Idaho backcontry I allowed myself to get between an over aand under cast. I was thinking how much more secure I would feel if I had AHRS connected to IFLT 3D display.  As it is, I noticed that I cold see the mountains, river channels, roads and airports but the attitude indication is useless without AHRS.

With AHRS and Synth Vision from IFLY I could at least descend safely throgh the undercast in the event of an engine falure.

I had 38 hours of instrument training before my GI Bill ran out so I can keep the clean side up untill I break through the undercast and with IFLY 3D I would see any rock piles. Would not be used to attemp a 0/0 landing of course.

I do have attitude on my Dynon D10A but I'd like to see it on my IFLY tablet.

I have looked at the LEVIL unit but I don't need thae added expence of all the other feature I already have like ADSB.

I am wondering if there is a simple AHRS device that would talk to FLY?

Suggestions?

ifly is not an faa certified primary ifr nav tool.

that being said, what you're looking for is the Levil AstroLink.

As far as I know, there are no standalone AHRS devices.  You can only get AHRS as a feature attached to an ADSB-in rreceiver.  That means that if you currently have an ADSB-in receiver, and you want AHRS, then you need to buy a new ADSB-in receiver that includes that feature.

Brolin:

It trns oi that using IFLY GPS 3D synth vision to avoid cumulus granite on the way down and Dynon D10A to keep her coordinated I  have all the tools I need in case of an engine failure.

As I recall, the Raspberry Pi, Stratux had the option of having an AHRS module.  If you have ADSB traffic displayed on another unit, you could use the Stratux for the AHRS on your iFly.  That's about as much as I know about Stratux, and I have no idea if you could smply buy a Raspberry Pi, the AHRS unit, install the Stratux software and have it all work without adding the ADSB frequency units.

If you are using the iFly to descend through the clouds because your engine failed, wouldn't you have little choice but to attempt a 0/0 landing if the clouds continued down to 0?  wink
