Internal battery life

Gents: I just had my 740B delivered today and turned it on to quickly see the battery basically shut down the unit in a very short period of time. So I pluged in the external AC/DC charger and the unit came back to life but when I did that I had turned off the battery switch on the bottom of the unit thinking that had to be in the off position to use the external AC/DC supply. After reading the thread above am I correct that the battery only charges if the rear bezel battery switch is in the on position and you have the unit plugged into a 12V source like the AC/DC charger delivered with the unit? I had my new unit on for 2 hours on the AC/DC supply with the battery switch in the off position and the battery status did not improve nor change. Please advise.

Q: My iFly AP won't power up after not using for awhile?

A: Sorry you are having this problem but all is not lost. Your battery is probably just super dead. Flip the battery switch "off" and plug in the unit, wait a couple minutes, then flip the battery switch back to "on". It should now start charging. Let it sit for several hours, or even overnight. You should be flying now!

So, yes, it sounds like the battery switch must be ON for the battery to charge.

I have the ifly 520 and the battery life is not meant for full time usage. What I would like to know is how many amps does the battery charging mode require? My alternator is only 20 amps and I'm adding up all the electrical devices.

I think this would be a lot more fruitful if you made a seperate post about it.
