Like others in this forum I have had zero luck connecting more than one iFly device to my Echo UAT.  If I connect more than one device the Echo UAT will eventually drop the connection.   Based on what device you are using symptons will differ.  The iFly 740 will throw a DHCP connection error on the screen.  An IOS device will just stop displaying traffic.  The group I fly with has seen similiar issues with Stratux.

I contacted Uavionix and was provided a wifi firmware update to apply.   I applied and tested the update.  It  didn't fix the problem.  I provided Uavionix with my test results.  Uavionix replied with...  "I have talked to IFLY and Walter is trying to solve the problem based on your description of the problem.  They have seen the problem occasionally and since you did have the latest wifi version, we will have to see what they find."

Anything new from iFly to report?

Hi Mike,

We've had a few conversations over the past couple of years with uAvionix on this issue...but I didn't know they were thinking this is back in our court.  As the issue happens at a hardware level, and seems to affect Apple, Android and iFly devices, I have presumed the issue is in the Echo.  Can I ask who you spoke with?  We can try and reach back out and get the latest update from them.

Thanks,
Walter

Hi Walter,

I thought it was a bit of a strange comment and was not sure what Uavionix was expecting from iFly.   An auto-recovery procedure would only mask the problem.  If the router is dropping connections, the problem lies with the router, not the client. I submitted a trouble ticket and communicated via email with the following individual.

I also talked with Wagner on the phone and installed a fix he said would work. It didn't. On the same call he said he had had many conversations with Walter, and I got the idea that he felt it might be iFly's fault--although he didn't actually SAY so.

This is a reproduceable problem.  It's unclear to me why Uavionix can't work with Ifly to debug this issue and determine root cause.   I'm happy to lend assistance and test any new code or configuration.

I was reminded of this problem last weekend when the weather in the NE finally cleared and I was able to go flying.   I forgot to disable my iPhone wifi and it automatically connected to the Echo UAT router.  15 minutes into flight I get the DHCP error on my iFly 740.  It was a PIA to dig out and disable my iPhone wifi to continue flight.
