Brolin, thanks for the suggestions.  I've already tried that exact procedure, updating via ssh to the latest version .843.  But just for fun I tried it again with no success.  I've also tried downloading and imaging two different SD cards with the full install with no luck either.

And FWIW, I've also tried reverting to an earlier build on both SD cards (one's brand new) then ssh'ng to update the version with no success.

Still no stable AHRS with a ver 2.0 AHRS board

i have an unstable/drifting AHRS 2.0 as well.  using  v1.6r1-AHRS2 v1.6r1-AHRS2 v1.6r1-AHRS2 release from github.

http://updates.stratux.me/builds/ seems to have older beta patches (March) than the github one (August).

Any ideas what else to try?

Update:  I received my third ver 2.0 AHRS board from crewdog yesterday.  I had already updated my ssd to the latest zip version 1.6 ver**e842.  Initially after calibrating the new board it continued to drift.  I then downloaded the ssh version (same build number as the 842 zip file) and ran the ssh update.  It took the stratux about 10 minutes to stop blinking after the ssh update.  I rebooted the stratux, then recalibrated the AHRS board, set level, set drift and waited.

Whether it was the third replacement board or going through the steps above I can't say but the AHRS - although not rock steady - seems to be pretty stable.  In any case a major improvement over the previous results where the board would show me at extreme bank angles in a very short time.

Granted my older 1.1 AHRS chip is rock steady.  I let the stratux run overnight and tested it again some 18 hours later - it was still pretty well aligned with my calibrated setup position.

I'm planning on testing my other 2.0 boards tomorrow and will report if the programming steps make any difference.

it seems that ahrs 2 gyro chip has some inherent stability issues (something called ZRO in the datasheet.). even tiny temperature variations cause large errors with a perfectly stationary board.  for example turning my stratux fan on for 5 seconds causes a 6 degree pitch change with the device sitting on a concrete floor.  may be on occasion you run into a chip that is more stable than most.

Hmm, you may be on to something there.  The Reddit stratux forum has mentioned that the 2.0 AHRS sensor should be allowed to "warm up" to it's ambient operating temperature before it will stabilize the AHRS data.
