I'm in the process of planning our flight from NC to UT, and have some questions about flight times using the Android flight planning on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S.

I can easily select a route, say from MRN to CNY several waypoints along the route. No I won't be flying the entire route at once, but it's a start for planning. I use the set altitude view to see what kind of obstacles and mountains will be in the flight path and the app generates a optimized flight plan, including flight times based on current or near future winds.

Which BTW is probably one if not the best feature to be found in iFly for flight planning - major Kudos to the iFly crew!

When I want to see what how long the flight will take without winds (unlikely to have no head wind, but since the flight isn't scheduled for several days the current winds aren't totally relevant) I move the slider all the way to the right to select the no winds time and the pop up flight plan gives me the total time enroute - so far so good. However when I close the pop up flight planner window, the flight plan reverts to showing the flight planner with time enroute estimates between waypoints that include the winds.

Any way around this?

Thank you for the post! There is a work around that goes like this:

  1. Wait a couple weeks, then
  2. Download the v9.5 release, and it will do what you want.

:)

So yeah, today I saw your post here, and then implemented a fix for the next release, 9.5. If you are a beta tester, you'll see this fix in tomorrow's beta release. iFly Version 9.5 is due out by April 8th, if not sooner.

For version 9.5, I made it so that if you slide the Winds Time to the far-right "OFF" position, it will exclude Winds from your flight plan calculations. That's how it should have worked in 9.4. Thanks for pointing this out for us!
