I read a couple other posts here and see some folks are having issues when using Ifly with the new Android OS update.

My Nexus told me i had an update available and i recently installed it. Then shortly after i installed an iFly trial. Its been a real challenge to get the maps downloaded. It starts downloading them, then after approx 2 minutes (it varies a bit) the download screen freezes. If i wait long enough it will ask me if i want to close the application or wait.

After experimenting a while, i found that pressing the new Square Icon at the bottom of the Nexus screen the open applications screen pops up showing whats running - if i wait until the Ifly shows a white X in the upper RH corner (takes maybe 20 seconds) then tap the app again to bring it in the foreground, then download is started again. It works for a short time, then does the same thing again. After several iterations of this I can finally get a state downloaded without killing the app.

I took a screen shot photo but cant find a way to attach it to this post

Any ideas?

Android 5.0 seems to have a few critical quirks. Consistently we're hearing that iFly freezes or shuts down on 5.0. If you really need for iFly to operate reliably, then we'd recommend that you downgrade back to 4.4 (KitKat). It is likely that the major quirks of 5.0 will be fixed with the 5.1 release (but no release date for 5.1 has been announced yet, AFAIK).

We are in process now of seeing what we can do to fix this 5.0-specific bug.

I googled this issue, and it seems to be widespread, even affecting popular apps like Facebook:

"Google forum is filled with the same complaint. Fixes mentioned in the article apparently don’t do much from the forum responses. Updated last night. Didn’t know to hold off doing so! My nexus closes apps. Facebook only responds for so long before it freezes/closes. Can’t upload some pictures. Will not show all my photos. Cant watch any videos. Terrible!"

Good to know its widespread so i assume it will get fixed in a reasonable time

I have never tried downgrading an OS will have to research that one this weekend but as i am not flying for a few days anyway lets see if any 5.01 comes out first...
