Brolin - You are kidding, right?  This is terible!  It was taking me about 3 to 4 hours every month to keep up with the updates for the 48 states with my 4 devices.  Each month had only around six or seven charts update.  Let's see - (48/7) * 4 = 27 hours.  I don't have 27 hours each month to update my charts.  Wait a minute.  Ok, I remember that for my tablet, cell phone, and laptop the automic updates took about an hour each because only the out of date charts were updated.  So, I guess I'm juat talking about my iFly 700 which I update by creating an update package.  Is there a way to flag the needed charts when I create an update package?  By "needed" I mean only the charts that have been changed since the last updata.  -  Thanks, Jim Williams

It's been a long time since I used the "update package" method.  If you have a Windows laptop you can use the iFly Connect software to write directly to the iFly 700's SD card, which is a lot faster than doing the update via the 700's USB port.  iFly Connect also only updates the data that has expired.

I guess I am old school, but I always use the "update package" method using the SD card.  Today it took 1 minute and 50 seconds to do 13 states for plates and 12 sectionals plus all the west coast and mountain states low and high enroute charts.  My home computer is an 8 year old Windows 7 so not particularly a fast computer.

This is nice because if you're VFR only you now only need to check for updates every 2 months instead of piecemealing it together

Thank you all for the explination.  I've never liked taking out and putting in SD or SIM cards in devices that I depend on so I have been using a thumb drive all of these years for my chart updates.  Anyway, I finially decided to bit the bullet and down loaded the iFly Connect app.  It seems to be working ok.  It did have to down load all the Sectionals and TACs for all 48 states but that only took about 30 minutes.  A lot quicker then the USB drive!.  Anyway, thank you for your advice.  I'll see how it works normaly in two months I guess.  -  Jim Williams
