Hi Walter - I finially got a 'thingie' that lets me connect an USB memory stick to my Asus Transformer Tablet (Android). However, now when I go to 'Updates' and make my update package, I then can not "click" on the 'Create Update Package' button. That is, when I tap the button on my screen, nothing happens. Other buttons on your site seem to work ok. Indeed, I think this button was working about two months ago when I had eariler tried to create an update package on my tablet but could not transfer the file from the tablet to a memory stick for lack of my new 'thingie'. Thanks for your and all of your team's support. - Jim Williams

Sounds like you may not be logged in. Near the top of that page do you see any yellow text describing a problem?

How silly of me not to notice that I was not loged in on my tablet! Thank both of you for the right solution. I just downloaded the curent weather and TFR's on my Asus, transfered the file to the USB memory stick, stuck the stick into the iFly and the GPS unit did all the rest. Now, while Annette is packing our bags in the motel room, I'll grab the latest info off of the motel's WiFi, load it into the iFly and we'll be ready to take off right after filing the flight plan at the airport. Both the iFly and my Asus tablet fit very well in my rather small flight bag. Thanks again, Walter and Ed! - Jim

On a related topic, is there any way to save the update.zip to the memory stick on the iPad/iPhone? I have no way to access the memory stick to save it there, or even an option to do so. Is there an adapter (I tried the camera kit adapter; the stick shows power on the red light) or an app of some kind to allow this or is the Apple software not going play along?
Any ideas?

Thanks, John

John,

You can use a App called USB Disk and save the zip file to the iOS device, however Apple only lets the iPhone and iPad be seen as a USB or Mass Storage if connected to PC or Mac iTunes . Since the iFly doesn't have iTunes, the iPhone or iPad won't allow the iFly 700 see is at a USB drive. Apple has locked this feature on its devices so that iTunes is needed. There might be a way to do so it the iOS device was hacked or jailbraken, but I would not suggest do that personally. Maybe Apple will ease the reigns a bit, that would be nice. Hope this helps.
