It's perfect as is. I looked at the reported winds once and immediately knew what it meant. Please stop trying to overly complicate IFly GPS. The developers know what they are doing. We don't need to second guess every single aspect of this excellent, well thought out, app.

Mike,

This might hurt a little. The NOAA Aviation Weather uses red barbs for wind gusts as a standard METAR graphic. We really do try to pattern our symbols off of aviation standards. Sometimes we may deviate, but it has to be for very good reason. Below is a link to their Metar page and you'll notice the legend has red barbs. Tap the Wgst, and you'll see the red barbs come and go. I hope this helps clear up any confusion here.

Think of black barbs as steady winds and the red as the gusting to.

you need to drop the "s" from https to get the URL to work.

Hi Shane:

Thanks for the quick feedback. My feelings aren't hurt. I just learned the other day that I have to talk to the controlling agency to fly into a Restricted Area even when it's Cold. (I guess the thought is that it's always Restricted Airspace - they just sometimes let you fly in it.) I've got my ATP, used to be a CFI-I, have been flying for almost 40 years and have a bunch of hours. But still am learning new things.

Glad to hear that the red barb is a standard for METAR display. (Can hardly keep up with stuff. I still like the old Prog charts, and the old Teletype symbols and abbreviations for wx, instead of the French based METAR stuff.)

P.S. Your signature says "V.P." I thought I heard you were President now?

Sorry about the "https", Google forces the https into a url if you are logged into to google in your browser. I just did not remove it. If you log into Google, I think you'd find the link might work. Sorry about the confusion, good catch. You guys are awesome!

Mike, I hope no offense was taken. I've been flying for 25+ years and still learn new stuff. If I learn something new each day, I consider it a good thing. It was a different day and age when I first learned to fly. I'm sure many will agree there.

I elected to keep the VP title, just moved from VP of Business Development to VP of Everything. Walter is still the Owner/President. Again thanks for the catch, needed to change my forum signature.
