stratux is by far the most finnicky unreliable thing we've ever tried to support. We used to sell it, but the quality is not something we could stand behind, so we don't retail them anymore. When I went out to fly with one to film some content for us, it bricked itself. I do not like them and tell everyone to run away from stratux. Raspberry Pi's are great but not for flying.

It's fair that you guys observed finicky behavior from Stratux and decided not to retail them.

It's unfair to pooh-pooh and immediately dismiss every report of strange/undesirable iFly behavior from Stratux users as "oh, that's gotta be because you're using a Stratux".

Maybe it is, but also maybe it isn't.

Like it or not, you've got lots of users flying with Stratux devices.  (I'm one of 'em.)  It's not a good look to be so dismissive.

We have the Levil AstroLink and have had no complaints about it. It does everything Stratus 3 does for 2/3 the cost, is smaller than a stratux, and has an onboard battery and ultra accurate GPS. Use that one instead.

The AstroLink is also cheaper than a new car, but how is that relevant to comparing it to a Stratux?

I suggest you could promote it with something like, "Sure, it costs four times more than a Stratux, but for that price you get everything a Stratux can do, plus I won't badmouth it when you ask for support."

Thanks Mark—But it’s not my own ship that I’m seeing as a ghost.  I’m seeing doubles of other airplanes particularly in the pattern near my home airport.  From my reading I’m probably seeing both the target airplane’s direct broadcast and the re-broadcast from a ground tower. I know this doesn’t happen when my friend in my plane at the same time doesn’t see doubles using Stratus and Foreflight. So the doubles issue can be eliminated.

In my experience 99.9% of all errors experienced with stratux are due to the stratux itself.

if it works for you, great. but unless you know exactly what you're doing, then you're going to be disappointed in the product, and my goal is to have everyone delighted when using iFly, and when using anything we support. Stratux objectively does not. It's cheap and finnicky, and if you're not tech savvy then it's a recipe for disappointment.

I'd rather have a client not use one than buy something from me that disappoints them.
