Hello,

I went to a local very busy fly in over the weekend and really saw lot of traffic pop up on the screen. There are the different colors of the arrows, blue, yellow and red. I realized that I did not know their exact meaning. I can figure out that red is urgent. I found that out when I had a ghost return of myself. The pucker factor went up quickly when that red arrow showed up ;-)

What are the tresholds for each color, I think it is altitude difference. more than 3000 difference blue between 3000 and 1000 yellow. Less then 1000 red. Am I correct? I tried to find it in the manual and actually found very little information on traffic. I looked under setup to see if the colors could be set the same as airspace, but no luck there. The value shown in the arrow is their actual altitude right? Not the difference beyween them and me.

If I missed it in the manual I apologize!

Peter

My concern is that the colored traffic symbols are very hard to see on a sectional or terminal chart --- they need to have a black outline or much darker coloring.

Noted, I'll be posting an outline of the Traffic alerts and colors shortly.

I agree that is why I use the vector map most of the time. I am not sure a thicker outline would it better. The traffic is really good it helped me earlier this week as it pointed out traffic that I did not notice.

On my original question, was it a really dumb question?

Thanks,

Peter
