I received the iFly package yesterday. My initial action was to remove and discard the display's clear cover but I then thought I'd wait until after I had evaluated the unit. The display cover has a small tab on the right side of the display protector's plastic. Remove the protector and replace it so that hte top and right side of the protector are flush with the inside of the display. Then, using a very soft pencil, outline the other two sides (top an left side) with the pencil (press lightly to outline the inside of the LCD screen. Then remove the plastic protector and trim along the pencil's mark. Reapply the protector and carefully push out any air pockets. I wasn't able to get all of the air out. This will give you a free (so to speak) protective cover. The tab that is left on the protective cover will allow easier removal if it gets too scratched with use. Thicker plastic covers should be a stock item for this unit if display preservation is of value to the owner.

I might suggest that the ifLY be shipped to the customer with the protective cover already cur to size.

Now. Onto more evaluating the unit. By the way.... the 350 nit brightness seems to be better than the AV8OR. One objection to the AV8OR was the use of non standard symbology. Otherwise the AV8OR is a great unit.

As Walter mentioned: I've also had no problems with scratches on the screen. My initial posting was triggered by using other handheld devices which have scratch issues and so I thought that a free (inital response) was a good thing. Having had the unit to evaluate I've found, too, that this unit has not had scratch vulnaribilities and have since removed the screen protector. I also had air bubbles which was a problem.

Thanks Walter for the clarification; I've (to this date) confirmed that scratching is a non-issue with the iFly.

Again, thanks too, for such a robust product and the important feature of growing capability with software upgrades.
