Any plans for an auotomotive mode? It would be nice to be able to take the iFly along in a rental car and have all the road maps available.

I second. I suppose Walter is pretty busy developing the aircraft mode though. Any chance there's a (preferably open source/free/affordable) auto GPS application that would be compatable with whatever the base unit of the iFly operates through?

We will work with a 3rd party to get an automotive mode working on the device, and then we will make that available as an optional feature. We don't have a date yet for that; more to come when able.

Thanks,
Walter

I'll add another vote for the auto mode.

I saw a fancy 4.3" Garmin auto GPS at Costco yesterday for just over $100. Trying to accomplish two objectives (auto and aviation) is silly where there is so much aviation potential still to be developed with the iFly. With its size and absence of internal battery the iFly is not the best auto GPS solution. Doing so just asks for it to be stolen, dropped, damaged in some other way, or just disturbed from its aviation function. As an aviation GPS it has a very important role that is best left alone. For those who need a GPS on the ground, that $100+ Garmin couldn't be more suitable.
