I am new to iFly GPS but already love it. As a helicopter pilot, I need helicopter charts as they have special route and frequency information that isn't otherwise available. I would love to start using iFly in the cockpit but without the helicopter charts, it's usefulness is somewhat limited for me at this time.

Anyone flying low can benefit from helicopter charts.

And wouldn't it be nice to have voice recognition in iFly so you could just tell it what you need. "Hey, iFly, extend runway one-five at kilo foxtrot charlie romeo."

No problem asking for the Moon, but you do know that with today's technology, Amazon, Google, and Apple voice recognition all rely on the Internet, right?  It's not your phone or tablet processing your voice and figuring out what you said and what to do.  It's the giant Mothership in the cloud doing that heavy lifting, then sending a response back to your device or taking the appropriate action with your other Internet-connected devices.  So it's not really fair to ask Adventure Pilot to pull off that kind of capability with iFly.

One moon on rye, please. With Grey Poupon.

Sorry, Cobra, But this IS the Wish List forum, and that's a vaild wish. It's true that most apps with voice recognition do it on big servers in, um, Bolivia or somewhere. But lots of apps can do limited speech recognition when offline. Dragon Speaking Naturally was one of the first, back around 1990. (Not sure if I remember the name perfectly.) And today, Google Translate, for one example, can download enough data for useful offline translations in at least eight languages. (My iPhone's Google Translate app lists 6 languages today and asks me to add more.) So I don't think it's unreasonable to wish that iFly were able to recognize a few dozen--or more--common spoken commands and execute them.

The hard part is doing that in a noisy cockpit. But most tablets and phones can accept audio inputs via the power connector, so in-flight voice recognition from the intercom doesn't seem hardware-hard at all. Who'll be first to code it?

Hey, iFly: flight plan from here to the Oshkosh Seaplane Base. Use Real Plan and avoid Class Charlie and Class Bravo and Restricted and Prohibited and TFR airspace .
