I’ll try to keep this short. I have an airplane that I acquired from my dad. It’s a CH-601-HDS-TD, it has a bubble canopy. I first used the Gar**n 196 which used a yoke type mount attached to the instrument panel which I thought had a good view of the sky. Once in awhile it would lose GPS. After some time troubleshooting I found the problem.
Dad had applied some sort of ‘paint’ for a sun shade, I think it was shoe polish. This was causing the problem with losing the GPS signal. As soon as I started using a remote GPS antenna I’ve never had the GPS lose the signal again.
For those of you losing signal, I would try the remote GPS antenna first.

PS Who here was it that I met for a minute that had the 720, I have the 700, at GEU for the FAAST seminar on Summer Flying last Saturday, the 4th?
