I have a very similar setup as flybaby. Lenovo tablet is a great.  I finally had to upgrade from my Nexus 7 2013 tablet. Yes, the synthetic vision works fine.

I had a tablet for years and it finally stopped charging, so Verizon gave me a Samsung TAB A for $50. So far so good...

Naturally, when you change tablets the cradles for hte yoke do not work anymore, so out went another $70 on a new yoke mount. This time I got an adjustable one vs. one made exactly for the tablet.

One should also consider the cost of the "holder" in the cockpit with total investment required. In my case, the tablet HOLDER cost me more than the tablet itself!

My old and new tablet....going with the Samsung TAB A now ($50), as the older one "wore out" (would not charge).

Had to also buy a bigger holder - another $70!

I use a Samsung Tab A 8" unit. It is small enough to be placed on my kneeboard. That said, I wanted to mount it using a RAM mount. My Avid MK4 aircraft doesn't have much room fo placement so I have it on an arm to a RAM tablet holder. It is next to my window vent which helps keep it cool in SoCal summer heat.

It works well in the sunlight streaming through my cockpit top window.

Many are not bright enough.

This unit was cheaper since it is WiFi only. If I need to hook up to the Internet I just use my Samsung Note 9 as a hot spot.
