Before I spring MAJOR bucks for the S version, I have a couple questions for those of you that have, please:

1. The S screen, of course, has much more resolution than a standard Tab. Does iFly fill up the screen or does it max out at 1280x800?

2. Can one use the S in the cokcpit during actual daylight without making covers, etc? IOW, is is sunlight viewable? The regular Tabs are definitely not useable in direct sunlight.

3. is the S worth almost double the price of the standard?

4. Do they have a slot for the "external" SD card? The only one I've seen did not have that!!!

I can answer #1 -- iFly *does* fill up the full screen.

I've been using the 8.4 Tab S for about two months now. Worth every penny.

The answers are:

1, full screen

2, yes, we fly in our Cardinal with the tab mounted on the right side of the windshield. I can easily read the data fields as I have them set for the largest font available. No sunscreen necessary. Can't say that under some conditions of flight that there isn't a glare, but that is true of any tab/device.

3, Don't really know that the S series are twice as good as a tab at half the price, but I've been extremely happy with mine. I paid $350 for ours (Staples 15% off coupon). Our first tab (still going strong, now relegated to ereader and backup nav tool) is a first gen Nexus 7.

Sorry, forgot to answer the SD question. Yes the Tab S includes SD card. I have a 64g card in mine.

Really appreciate the info, guys.

Related question, AIUI, we can load iFly on the new Tab S and still have my current Tab as backup, without extra cost. If I also load it on my phone (assuming it can even run there), that is when we pay the extra $20?

I mount my current Tab 10.1 using a large holder with a RAM mount and hope the same hardware will work on the S. Does anyone else do this?
