Using the weather feature to plan and fly a PIZZA RUN

Great place right off the airport at SMOKETOWN, PA (S37) if any of yunz want to try it.

Good weather depiction which matched the actual weather perfectly and allowed me to maintain VMC or MVMC the entire way there and back in rain. Rain does not equal IMC.

Thanks iFly!

Thanks, Mike. I often enjoy flying in and around light rain, too, especially when ADSB (or something else) shows it clearly and it's not changing fast.

•  In your second photo the GPS Status instrument shows  "WAAS / Recieving": Interesting. I'd never seen the "WAAS" part before.

• And where is that elegant maize with the overpass in the middle?

Don,

Thanks for noticing the WAAS and calling it out...in fact, I was going to ASK THE EXPERTS HERE what that means and why it is showing up now -- I do not think I ever saw that before either...must be a GOOD THING? More accurate?

Don, we have a lot of corn mazes and crop signals around here in AMISH COUNTRY in CENTRAL PA between Lancaster and then heading west all the way to HAGERSTOWN, MD....some even send us messages, as the one below shows - I love it and take photos of all of them.

Had some weather I needed to avoid - some CB's with imbedded lighting...in fact the iFly had little lighting bolts flashing in the magenta part of the cell! Very cool and useful - thanks iFly!

Easily avoided it and landed -- went and got some PIZZA until it all blew over!  By the time I read "Aviation News" and ate a slice for me and got one for the FBO lineman, it was all over!

Using iFly Weather and AIRMET service was helpful in outrunning a front and picking around CBs - thanks!
