iFly does a very nice job of depicting ADS-B traffic in 2D and 3D. But I wish the traffic colors were MUCH brighter--the most garish, startling, livid, brilliant colors possible. As someone said earlier on this subject, we expect that something potentially dangerous is going to be easy to see in the display.

This morning, for example, I was flying in bright haze and found that my iFly 740's depictions of ADS-B traffic was in colors so muted that I had a lot of trouble spotting them in the display. (Not a complaint, though--I NEVER spotted them in the air!)  Here's what traffic looked like in the 740:

This photo shows relatively distant traffic as light blue in the Map view. They look red in the EFIS view, but that's to indicate that we're seeing their port sides. (It might seem confusing at first, but it makes good sense.) But the blue is "water" blue; and the red is dull red.

In the second photo (a video frame), the traffic is closer and therefore depicted as yellow to indicate the greater potential hazard. However, the heading is different, and the sun is shining on my knees and also onto the screen, making the traffic icons much harder to spot. I wouldn't have noticed them at all, except for the warning popup that told me where to look for trouble.

You might think I picked this particular video frame because the colors look washed out, but in reality it's the brightest frame I could find. I decided not to enhance the colors because this really is how the display looked to me in flight.

So: I wish for  brightly   colored   traffic  please !

Hm. Well, that's easier said than done. But surely you Adventure Pilot guys can do better.

(Sorry, there's an earlier discussion of traffic colors, but I wasn't able to find it.)

No worries, Don. I'll ask the guys and see what we can come up with.
